One person suffered serious injuries and another had minor injuries, as Smithtown and East Brentwood emergency crews worked under Assistant Chief Palazzo before Suffolk County police took over the investigation.

Assault charge against Smithtown councilman dismissed (news12.com) — A criminal assault charge against Smithtown Councilman Thomas Lohmann has been dismissed, ending months of tension stemming from an alleged altercation with fellow Councilman Thomas McCarthy during an April board meeting. Both officials now say they want to move past the incident and refocus on serving Smithtown residents, emphasizing cooperation and stability in town government.
