The campaign signs are coming out, ahead of what looks to be a tight primary between Smithtown Supervisor Pat Vecchio and town Councilman Robert Creighton for the Republican slot on November's town supervisor's ballot.
Vecchio signs hung in the windows of the vacant Cyrus Place restaurant on Friday, days before the Smithtown Festival Day street fair on Sunday.
Cyrus Place was slated to open as an English Pub two years ago until the owner suddenly pulled the plug on the business.
On an interesting note, Creigthton has made the wealth of empty storefronts along Main Street a central campaign issue.
And now it seems Vecchio, who recently scored the town GOP's nomination, has found a use for one.
