Police Officially Identify Remains Found In Long Island Home

The remains were discovered by the homeowner and his two sons back in October. The death is being investigated as a homicide.

LAKE GROVE, NY - Suffolk Police have officially confirmed on Wednesday the identity of the human remains found in a Lake Grove home in October.

The remains found at the Olive Street home have been identified George Carroll.

Carroll’s death is being investigating as a homicide, police said.

On Oct. 31 George's son and current owner of the home, 57-year-old Michael Carroll and his two adult sons were excavating the basement at the home when the sons discovered what appeared to be human remains at 2 p.m.

The family called 911 and homicide detectives investigated.

Investigation revealed Michael's parents, George and Dorothy Carroll, owned the home in 1957.

Michael and his three siblings lived in the house with their parents. George has been missing since 1961, and Dorothy died in the late 90s.
