Michael W. McCarthy Foundation Annual Golf Outing Benefits

(Smithtown, NY) – The Michael W. McCarthy Foundation hosted its annual golf outing at the Nissequogue Country Club on September 17, 2018. More than 100 golfers and additional dinner guests enjoyed a spectacular event with all proceeds benefiting Options for Community Living, Inc., a Long Island based not-for-profit serving people recovering from mental illness and other chronic health conditions through housing and case management programs.

Through combined efforts, the golf outing raised more than $35,000 to benefit Options and its mission.

“I cannot thank everyone enough for coming out and supporting the [Michael W. McCarthy] Foundation and Options for Community Living, Inc.,” said Pat McCarthy, President of the Michael W. McCarthy Foundation. “Options for Community Living has been a stand-up not-for-profit organization in our community for decades. They are one of the best because of the services they provide in their day-to-day operations.”

The foundation also recognized honoree, Daniel Ryan, for his work as founder of the Unsung Siblings Foundation. His foundation is dedicated to serving siblings of children with autism, as well as the children of veterans. “Danny’s foundation continues to have a lasting impact on the Long Island community with a mission that is truly inspirational,” said McCarthy.

A moving testimonial provided by Beverly-jane Aniano, whose sister resides in Options supportive housing, provided insight into mental illness, recovery and critical support services. “My younger sister has suffered from severe mental illness since 1996 and has been part of the Options community since November 2006. Since then she has learned to maintain a productive and self-sufficient life. Options has helped my sister and I with acceptance and has brought peace to me and my family,” said Ms. Aniano.

Options is grateful for the support of the Michael W. McCarthy Foundation and all of those who contributed to making the event a success. “We are very fortunate to have been chosen as this years’ beneficiary organization,” said Yolanda Robano-Gross, Options Executive Director. “Pat and his team are committed to helping the Long Island Community succeed, and we are grateful for their support.”
