Smithtown Adoptable Pet Of The Week: Butterscotch
Meet Butterscotch, an 11-year-old female Domestic Shorthair looking for a home after her owner died.

SMITHTOWN, NY — Butterscotch, an 11-year-old female domestic shorthair, was named the Smithtown Animal Shelter Pet of the Week. She was brought to the shelter after the death of her owner. With no extended family to take care of her, Butterscotch was surrendered to the shelter.
She is known as a very affectionate and friendly cat, with the shelter dubbing her "Butterscotch the Sweetie." She loves to snuggle up next to new friends for lots of affection, and she is waiting to find someone to share her warm heart with.
November is National Adopt a Senior Pet Month. The Town of Smithtown said it would like to remind all potential adopters not to overlook a senior pet. Senior pets often require less monitoring and training, and they can be even more loyal than young animals.
