SMITHTOWN, NY —Patrick, nicknamed "the perfect pup," was named Smithtown Animal Shelter’s Pet of the Week. He is a 1-year-old pit bull and terrier mix.

Patrick was found tied to a tree in a nearby park and brought to the shelter by a good Samaritan. Known as a goofy, high-energy pup, he loves toys, attention, and running around the shelter's outside play area. He already knows some commands like 'sit,' 'wait,' 'paw,' and 'speak.'

Patrick has only been in the shelter for a short time, but he’s already made a big impression on staff and volunteers because of his affectionate and playful demeanor. He previously lived in a home with cats, and he’s excellent with kids. The shelter believes he would be a great addition to most homes.

The Smithtown Animal Shelter's primary concern is finding the perfect home for each animal that finds his/her way to it. The Animal Control Officers at the Smithtown Animal Shelter will go out of their way to ensure both the rescued and rescuer are made for one another. If you have other pets, you can arrange to bring your four-legged family member into the shelter or they can set up an at-home meet & greet to see how your prospective new addition does with other family members, pets or the household itself.
