SMITHTOWN, NY — Drone and Gabe, also known as "the bromance duo," were named the Smithtown Animal Shelter's Pets of the Week.

Drone is a 1-and-a-half-year-old male domestic shorthair, while Gabe is an 11-year-old male domestic shorthair.

"Drone and Gabe are the best pair of feline friends that anyone could have," the Smithtown Animal Shelter wrote. "When one of them is getting attention, the other cat will quickly follow to get in on the TLC."

The shelter said ideally, the duo will be adopted together, though they can be separated if necessary.

Drone is a very active cat who loves to play with the shelter's volunteers and other cats, according to the shelter. He may be a bit shy around strangers at first, but is loving and friendly once he opens up.

"Spending time with Gabe helps Drone come out of his shell," the shelter said. "While he gets along with the other cats, he’s best suited in a home without dogs."

Gabe, the shelter said, has the winning combo of the softest fur and sweetest personality. He meets people with a nudge and cuddle, and he loves to lounge around and be pet all day long.

"Gabe’s past life outside the shelter caused him to have a leg injury, so he may move a little slow, and can’t jump very high, but this cat is still one heck of a guy and is in great health overall," the shelter wrote.

He's great with other cats, as well as children.

Currently, there are a variety of male and female cats & kittens available to adopt or foster.

"If you are looking for a fun loving, yarn tossing ball of love, stop by the Kitten Nursery or the Cat Condos at the Smithtown Animal Shelter and find a PURR-fect soulmate or two," the shelter stated.

Walk-In Hours at Smithtown Animal Shelter are currently Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sundays are by appointment only.

If you are interested in meeting Drone or Gabe, please call ahead to schedule an hour to properly interact with them in a domestic setting, which includes the shelter's Meet and Greet Room. Family Pet Meet and Greets and at-home interactions are also welcome and an integral part of the adoption process.

All of the felines at the shelter are current on vaccines and have received a full workup (blood work, Feline HIV & Leukemia tested, physical exam etc.) by a board-certified veterinarian.
