Smithtown Adoptable Pets Of The Week: Reilly & DJ

Reilly and DJ, 3-year-old brothers, came to the shelter when their mom died. The shelter would ideally like to see them adopted together.

SMITHTOWN, NY — Reilly and DJ, a pair of 3-year-old domestic shorthair brothers, are the Smithtown Animal Shelter's Pets of the Week.

Reilly is an orange tabby, while DJ is a black cat. The brothers absolutely adore each other, according to the shelter.

"They arrived at the Animal Shelter after their mom passed away," the shelter wrote. "DJ loves to get attention from people and is very outgoing and vocal. Reilly takes a little bit of time to get used to people, but once he does, he’ll curl up on your lap to get some affection. Reilly and DJ get along well with other cats, but they would prefer a home without children. While we would love to see them go to the same home, they can be separated if need be."

The Smithtown Animal Shelter's primary concern is finding the perfect home for each animal that finds his/her way to it. The Animal Control Officers and kennel attendants at the Smithtown Animal Shelter will go out of their way to ensure both the rescued and rescuer are made for one another. If you have other pets, you can arrange to bring your four-legged family member into the shelter or they can set up an at-home meet & greet to see how your prospective new addition does with other family members, pets or the household itself.

The shelter is also seeking foster volunteers. Foster parents provide temporary care for cats, kittens and dogs in their own homes. Some animals need as little as two weeks of care, while others may need care for an extended time.
