Smithtown High Schools Host Homecoming
Both high schools hosted their homecoming events last week.
Both Smithtown West and Smithtown East High Schools hosted their respective homecoming events last week.
Smithtown West kicked off their homecoming celebration on Sept. 24 with carnival games, face painting, rock climbing, an obstacle course and a dunk tank.
Instead of a parade, clubs and organizations at Smithtown High School West set up booths and activities to attract students and spectators alike.

Smithtown High School West’s varsity football team took on the Thunderbirds from Half Hollow Hills East.
Despite their best efforts, the West Bulls were defeated 41-14. During the halftime celebration, Ava Witonsky and Tom Bernard were crowned the homecoming king and queen.

The Smithtown High School West varsity cheerleaders kicked off the halftime show, followed by the five-time champion Whisperettes.
That same day, Smithtown East hosted their homecoming which unlike Smithtown West, featured a spirit-filled parade and a big win for their team.
Prior to the Bulls game against Riverhead High School, sports teams and clubs from Smithtown High School East, Nesaquake and Great Hollow middle schools led a parade down Lake Avenue from St. James Elementary School down to the Smithtown High School East football field.
The East Bulls came out strong from the start, scoring the first touchdown and leading by 7-0 to end the first quarter.
At the end of the first half, the Bulls kept their momentum, staying on top 17-0. As the homecoming crowd of students and alumni cheered them on, East shut down the Riverhead Blue Waves, 24-0.
During halftime, Smithtown High School East varsity cheerleaders kicked off the show, followed by a performance by the 17-time National Champion High School East Whisperettes.
The homecoming court nominees were announced and called on to the football field where Gabby Meyers and Kyle DiPietrantonio were named homecoming queen and king.
