Smithtown Home Badly Damaged In Fire
Crews worked for three hours to extinguish the blaze. No one was injured.

SMITHTOWN, NY — A Smithtown home was badly damaged in a fire on Wednesday.
Smithtown firefighters were called to Cake Walk Terrace at 11:57 a.m., Rick Torre, a public information officer with the department, said. Smoke and flames were visible from the front of the house. No one was injured, Torre said.
Firefighters worked for three hours to extinguish the fire, search for victims and secure the property, Torre said. Several neighboring departments helped at the home while others covered additional alarms.

The Smithtown Fire Marshal is determining the cause of the fire. The American Red Cross is helping the family, Torre said.
First Assistant Chief Daniel Dongvort led the firefighters.
