SMITHTOWN, NY - A Smithtown home was destroyed in a fire that broke out on Saturday morning.
The Smithtown Fire Department received a call for a house fire on Eckernkamp Drive at about 4:29 a.m.
Upon arriving, responding firefighters immediately went to work on the two-story house fire.

The three residents and their dogs were all able to safely leave the home after the sound of smoke detector alarms woke up the family.
By 5:06 a.m., most of the fire on the outside of the home and most on the first level of the home was under control.

By 5:36 a.m. the fire was fully knocked down.
The Kings Park, St. James and Hauppauge Fire Departments as well as the Commack Volunteer Ambulance all responded to the scene.
The cause of the fire is still unknown. No injuries were reported.
