Smithtown Home Fire Causes Road Closure
Firefighters battled the house fire on Tuesday afternoon. The fire spread to the home's attic.

SMITHTOWN, NY — Smithtown firefighters battled a house fire on South Plaisted Avenue on Tuesday afternoon, said Rick Torre, public information officer for the Smithtown Fire Department.
Firefighters found the fire had extended to the home's attic by the time they got there at 3:08 p.m. As of 4 p.m., firefighters are still working on dousing the fire. No injuries have been reported.

South Plaisted Avenue is closed from Hoffman Lane to Mt. Pleasant Road in Smithtown due to the fire, according to Smithtown Public Safety.
