SMITHTOWN, NY — Nethmi Withanage, a senior at Smithtown High School East, was named a winner in the Shanti Fund art competition, the school district announced.

Each year, the Shanti Fund celebrates the life and values promoted by Mahatma Gandhi. Withanage’s artwork will be featured in the annual Shanti Fund peace calendar. The theme for 2021 focuses on encouraging peace and truth/media. Members of the Shanti Fund delivered a check to Withanage in early December.
