Smithtown Middle School Student Named Geo Bee Semifinalist
Congratulations to Patrick Slattery!

A Smithtown middle school student was recently named a semifinalist in the National Geographic State Bee.
After winning the school level of the competition, Patrick Slattery, a seventh-grader at Accompsett Middle Schoo took a qualifying test to determine his eligibility as a state semifinalist.
He will go on to participate in the 2017 competition at the New York State Museum in Albany on March 31.

A total of 100 of the top-scoring students in each of the 50 states will compete in their respective state bees.
Each state champion will move on to represent their state in the National Geographic Bee Championship in Washington D.C. at National Geographic Society headquarters from May 14 to 17.

In addition, the winners will receive $100 and the National Geographic Concise Atlas of the World, 4th Edition.
