Smithtown Police Blotter: Woman's Purse Stolen At Smith Haven

ALSO: A Lake Grove home was burglarized, police say.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Dec. 9: Burglary (third-degree) was reported on Penn Street in Lake Grove at 5:20 p.m. A person entered a home through a kitchen window by removing the window screen, police said. The person then stole jewelry from the house, police said.
  • Dec. 9: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported at Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove at 7:20 p.m. A man entered Kay Jewelers and requested to try on a bracelet, police said. While wearing it, he ran out of the store, police said.
  • Dec. 9: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported at Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove at 7:30 p.m. A person or persons stole a purse containing a wallet, cash, and jewelry from a woman at Smith Haven Mall and fled, police said.
  • Dec. 7: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on Carman Lane in Head of the Harbor from Nov. 11 at 10 a.m. Someone created three fraudulent checks and cashed them against someone else's bank account, police said.
