Town To Dedicate Street In Honor Of Women Killed In Limo Crash
The street dedication ceremony will take place right after the first annual 5K in honor of 4 women killed in the horrific crash in 2015.

SMITHTOWN, NY - The Town of Smithtown will be dedicating a Smithtown street in honor of the four women killed in a limo crash following a fundraiser this weekend.
The unveiling of LABS Lane in honor of Lauren Baruch, Stephanie Belli, Brittney Schulman and Amy Grabina, who died in the horrific crash in Cutchogue in 2015, will take place on Sunday at 11 a.m. following the Running for Our Angels 5K race.
The event will take place at the corner of Central and Plymouth by entrance to Smithtown High School West.

Local officials including Town Supervisor Ed Wehrheim, Smithtown Town Council members Tom McCarthy, Lynne Nowick, Lisa Inzerillo, Tom Lohmann, Town Clerk and Nesconset Fire Commissioner Vincent Puleo, Superintendent of Highways Robert Murphy, NYS Assemblyman Mike Fitzpatrick, Legislator Leslie Kennedy, Congressman Lee Zeldin, Comptroller John Kennedy and Legislator Rob Trotta are all expected to attend the dedication.

In addition, the family members of all four girls and the four survivors of the crash: Olga Lipets, Alicia Arundel, Joelle DiMonte and Melissa Crai will also be in attendance.
Both the Smithtown and Nesconset Fire Departments will provide a Fire Department Aerial Ladder Flag for the ceremony.
Prior to the event, the first ever 5K race in honor of the women will take place at Smithtown West High School starting at 9 a.m.
The race was started by the parents of the girls. All proceeds will be given to the Scholarship Funds that each family has set up and presented to the recipient of their choice.
"The whole process is a whirlwind of emotions," Paul Shulman, father of Brittney Shulman, said. "Also, it's bittersweet because what Smithtown is doing is amazing — but I wish none of this had to be done."
He added, "Everyone connected with this event has been incredible. I just hope it brings light to this and maybe gets the changes we are looking for so this doesn't happen again to anyone else."
