SMITHTOWN RESIDENT KEVIN HARVEY JOINS UNITED WAY OF LONG ISLAND'S BOARD OF DIRECTORS

United Way of Long Island Welcomes Smithtown Resident Kevin Harvey to its Board of Directors

United Way of Long Island recently elected Smithtown resident Kevin Harvey to its Board of Directors. Harvey is a 45-year member of the IBEW Local 25, keeping with a long-standing family tradition of working for the organization. He was an instructor in the Local 25’s Apprenticeship Program for seven years, and has been appointed as Shop Steward on several Long Island projects. Harvey’s addition to the Board fortifies United Way of Long Island’s already strong relationship with Long Island’s Unions.

Mr. Harvey currently is the Business Manager of the IBEW Local 25 and serves on the Boards of several Long Island associations, including the Long Island Housing Partnership, the Suffolk County Industrial Development Agency, the United States Green Building Council – LI, the Suffolk County Electrical Licensing Board, and the Hempstead Labor Advisory Council. He is also senior Labor Trustee on the Electrical Industry Board of Long Island.

During his years or involvement with IBEW 25 Harvey has seen the relationship between labor and United Way of Long Island blossom. Upon his appointment Harvey said, “I am excited about the prospect of offering my knowledge of the union landscape on Long Island to United Way. Unions across the region have not only given financially but allowed their members to contribute their skills to make a difference in the life of so many Long Islanders. I will work to maintain and extend that tradition.”
