Here are the top four stories today in Smithtown:
- Have you noticed that Accompsett Elementary School is extra colorful? Students and staff teamed up to create storm drain murals that spread the great message of recycling to protect the environment. The Smithtown Central School District staff and high school students created the mural's design. (Smithtown Matters)
- Attention library goers and foodies in the neighborhood! The Smithtown Public Library offers prizes for those who want to try cooking a recipe from the library's cookbook selection at home! You can submit a photo of your creation on this online form. (Smithtown Public Library)
- Police are asking for the public's help identifying the suspect who broke into the Prato 850 restaurant on Jericho Turnpike. Fortunately, the man fled from the scene without stealing anything. However, he is still wanted for burglary. Visit the link I've shared to see images from the security system and submit a tip at www.P3Tips.com. (Patch)
- Congratulations to high student Jacqueline Seifert for winning the Brookhaven National Laboratory bridge-building competition. Jacqueline, from Commack, won first place for her engineering skills out of 142 participants. (Newsday/Subscription Required)
