Smithtown Central School District opened its doors for the start of the 2016-2017 school year this past Tuesday.
Administrators and staff welcomed students into Accompsett Elementary School, Branch Brook Elementary School, Dogwood Elementary School, Mills Pond Elementary School, Mt. Pleasant, Smithtown Elementary School, St. James Elementary School, Tackan Elementary School, Accompsett Middle School, Great Hollow Middle School, Nesaquake Middle School, Smithtown Town High School East and Smithtown High School West, guiding the way into new classrooms.
Principals and teachers greeted the students at the start of the day and helped ease them into the new school year.

Some students returned to their school for the new year and others made the transition to one of the district’s middle or high schools for the first time.
Students were excited to see familiar faces as they made their way into the buildings and settled into their classes for an exciting year ahead.
