Smithtown West Defeats Hills East 44-7

Smithtown West continued their strong showing this weekend, defeating Half Hollow Hills East 44-7 after taking a 41-7 lead at halftime.

It was a beautiful sunny day as the Smithown West Bulls traveled to play against Half Hollow Hills East. The Bulls, coming fresh off a big win last week against top rated North Babylon 12-0, could have easily let down their guard.  The opposite  took place.

The Bulls jumped out to an immediate 21-7 first quarter lead with outstanding performances by Michael Baruch as he rushed for a 46 yard touchdown, along with James Pannell;s 3 yard run and Kyle Keenan's 39 run to close out the first quarter. 
 
The Bulls did not stop there continuing their attack with touchdowns by Anthony Gatto (14 yard run) as well as a Gatto 47 interception return for a touchdown.  Barruch topped that with a 50 yard touchdown run to cap the score at 41-7 at half-time.  Kicker Laderious finished the game off with a 39 yard field goal into the wind.
 
The end result was a big 44-7 Bulls win placing them at 3-1 in Division II.  Michael Baruch rushed for a total of 115 yards on five carries with tow TD's.  James Pannell rushed for 117 yards on seven carries with a TD for the Bulls.  Anthony Gatto had two interceptions, one being returned for a TD along with his 14 yard TD.  Quarterback Kyle Keenan passed for 84 yards while rushing for 69 yards, including a 39 yard TD run.
 
The Smithtown West Bulls will be home this Saturday for a big game against a tough West Islip team.
