SMITHTOWN, NY — Daisy Troop 575 of St. James decorated and delivered kindness rocks in appreciation and support for essential workers during the coronavirus pandemic. The troop visited Smithtown Town Hall on June 30 to add their handmade kindness rocks to the display in front of the building, the Town stated in a news release. The rocks were designed as part of the ongoing #SmithtownStrong initiative.
"It’s really a great feeling, watching so many people stop to read the signs or look at the beautiful artwork which has been hand painted by so many from the community," Supervisor Ed Wehrheim stated. "But when our children get involved, it gives us the much needed hope and faith that we will prevail through these uncertain times."
Towards the end of March, residents young and old began painting signs and other displays of gratitude for those who have helped the community during the COVID-19 outbreak. The Town administration has invited the community to share these gestures of appreciation by exhibiting them throughout the landscape surrounding the building.

"Throughout these stressful and confusing times, students and families never cease to amaze us with their good will and compassion for their fellow Town residents. Each and every kind gesture fills us with pride, and provides reassurance in the resilience of our Township’s students and families."
