SUPPORTIVE HOUSING HELP

OPTIONS FOR COMMUNITY LIVING AWARDED $652,320 NEW YORK STATE SUPPORTIVE HOUSING GRANT

Options for Community Living, Inc. has been awarded $652,320 under the New York State Supportive Housing Program (NYSSHP) through the NYS Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance. This NYSSHP grant will enable Options to assist adults with psychiatric disabilities and other chronic illnesses residing in the agency’s supportive housing programs on Long Island.

“This award provides financial support for Options’ case managers who work directly with our residents in long-term supportive housing,” stated Yolanda Robano-Gross, executive director, Options for Community Living. “Supportive housing allows people to live with dignity in the community as they regain stability and independence.”

Options’ residents pay an affordable rent; and case managers make regular home visits to monitor the residents’ health and to teach them skills, such as: cooking, budgeting and much more, so they can continue to live independently. More than 400 Long Islanders reside in Options supported housing with over 100 sites scattered throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
