The Importance Of Eating Seasonably: Year Round Fruit and Vegetable List

I’ve been eating seasonably for years… and I think you should too!

Eating seasonably helps you to eat the right veggies and fruit at the right time of year; a crisp salad when it’s hot and sunny, a wholesome stew when it’s cold, strawberries in June, Brussels sprouts in December, etc. A great alternative to fresh produce is purchasing organic frozen fruits and veggies. They’re quickly blanched and frozen when harvested, so they’re healthy too. Here’s a great article that explains the process more in depth!

BONUS TIP: look at labels while shopping produce and whenever possible purchase from local growers!

Some Benefits Of Eating Seasonably:
  • Better taste – top chefs agree that fresh seasonal produce tastes best
  • Better health – Produce that ripens fully before it’s picked has had the best opportunity to absorb as many nutrients as it can from the earth. It’s developed it’s antioxidants more fully and so is nutritionally a richer, more complete source of the things you need.
  • Better connection with nature – When you eat seasonably you tap into Universal Flow (which is a really good thing) and the changing of the seasons
  • Better value – our research has shown that a basket of veggies and fruit bought in the summer can be as much as a third cheaper than the same basket bought out of season
  • Better for the planet – growing in season requires lower levels of artificial inputs than at other times of the year
