Unknown Person Left Hens For Dead At Smithtown Pond
The SPCA and the Long Island Orchestrating For Nature are offering a $1,500 reward for information on the person responsible.

SMITHTOWN, NY - Several abandoned hens were discovered dead in Smithtown earlier this month, according to the Suffolk County SPCA.
The hens were discovered in Millers Pond around Jan. 16. The SPCA and the Long Island Orchestrating For Nature (LION) are seeking the person responsible for abandonment of the hens which resulted in their death.
The groups are offering a combined $1,500 for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible.

"Chickens and other fowl feel pain and fear just like we do, and they depend on us completely to keep them safe," John DiLeonardo, President and Anthropologist of LION said. "Whoever killed these birds lacks empathy and is a threat to our community."
Anyone with information is asked to call the Suffolk County SPCA at 631-382-7722. All calls will be kept confidential.
