WATCH: 'Red Light Robin Hood' Stephen Ruth Releases Campaign Ad Attacking Local Politicians, Businessmen

The Centereach resident is running for State Senate.

Stephen Ruth, also known as the "Red Light Robin Hood" and a candidate for the New York State Senate, released a campaign ad on social media Monday in which he accuses politicians and businessmen of conspiring to shorten the duration of yellow traffic lights.

The 43-year-old Centereach resident, who faces felony charges for damaging red light cameras in Suffolk County, is running as a libertarian against incumbent Senate Majority Leader John Flanagan, R- East Northport.

The campaign ad, posted to his Facebook page, attacks current Suffolk County officials who he claims have purposely shortened the time of yellow lights making it more likely that drivers to run red lights and get tickets.

"Suffolk County will do anything to take your money even if it costs lives," the post reads. "All of the business in our county done by our elected officials is based upon bribes and backroom deals. Vote out the incumbents."

The video has been viewed more than 23,000 times since it was posted on Monday.
