West Alum Matt Stefurak Selected in Major League Lacrosse Draft
The West defensive star was selected by the Long Island Lizards in the eight round.
The Long Island Lizards selected Smithtown West alum Matt Stefurak in the Major League Lacrosse draft Saturday.
Stefurak, who played college lacrosse at the University of Delaware, was selected 47 overall in the eighth round of the draft. At West, the 6-4, 240 pound defensive standout was named team MVP, was an all-county selection in his senior year and was a four-year member of the varsity team.
The Lizards finished the 2010 season with a regular season record of 7-5 and lost in the championship game to the Chesapeake Bayhawks, 13-9.
