2 Grinches Try To Steal Christmas In Southampton: Cops

The pair stole packages off a porch; they were caught red-handed, police say. Watch the video here.

TSOUTHAMPTON, NY — Two grinches who almost stole Christmas were thwarted in their efforts, police said.

According to Southampton Town Police, on Monday, Pasquale Decicco, 37, and Christen Fleming, 34, both of Bridgehampton, were arrested after a call came in from a Southampton Town victim about a theft of packages from the porch of their home.

Thanks to the victim's "Ring doorbell video" and a community effort using Facebook, the pair was located by patrol and detectives responded to the location where Decicco and Fleming were stopped, police said.

Detectives found additional packages in their vehicle, and were able to identify 2 other victims from whom packages were stolen, police said.

Decicco was charged with three counts of petty larceny, a misdemeanor, and two counts of fifth degree criminal possession of stolen property, a misdemeanor, and held for morning arraignment, police said.

Fleming was charged with one count of petty larceny and released on an appearance ticket, police said.

"This was a great example of the police and community working hand in hand," police said.
