4 Charged With DWI During Southampton Crackdown: Police
A total of 29 summonses were issued during the East End DWI Task Force's initiative Saturday night, police say.
SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A crackdown by the Suffolk County District Attorney’s East End DWI Task Force netted four DWI charges in Southampton Town Saturday night, police said.
The crackdown took place from 8 p.m. through 4 a.m. Sunday and included six members of the task force from the Southampton Town Police Department, the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department, Quogue Police Department and the Westhampton Beach Police Department, police said. Saturation patrols were utilized throughout town, police said.
A total of 37 vehicles were stopped, with drivers screened for impairment, police said. Four individuals were arrested and charged with DWI and two for driving with suspended licenses; a total of 29 summonses were issued, police said.

Those arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, police said, included:
- Jorge Ajanel-Yac, 34 of Quiogue was observed failing to maintain his lane on Old Country Rd. in Westhampton; he was found to be intoxicated and charged with DWI, unlicensed operation, having open alcohol in the vehicle and failure to maintain lane, police said.

- Maria Leonor Dominguez, 33, of Riverhead, was seen driving south in the center turn lane of Flanders Road, failing to maintain her lane, and driving on the shoulder, police said. She was found to be intoxicated and charged with aggravated DWI — BAC of .18% or more — improper lane use, failure to maintain lane, driving on the shoulder, and unlicensed operation, police said.
- James Trent, 22 of Flanders, was seen operating a vehicle north on County Road 105 near New York State Route 24 in Flanders without a front tire and was found to be intoxicated, police said. He was charged with DWI and having an unsafe tire, police said.
- Cartagena-Memjivar Dimas, 42, of Riverhead was seen driving northbound on State Route 24 near Red Creek Road in Flanders, failing to maintain his lane, and driving on the shoulder north of County Road 31 in Flanders, police said. He was found to intoxicated and was also found to have previously have been convicted of DWI; he was required to have an ignition interlock device and his privilege to drive a motor vehicle in New York had been revoked, police said. He was arrested and charged with felony DWI, aggravated unlicensed operation, a felony, circumventing an interlock device, failure to maintain lane and driving on the shoulder, police said.
No motor vehicle collisions with injuries were reported to Southampton Town Police during the enforcement effort, police said.
"Southampton Town Police would like to thank all of the designated drivers and those who did drink and chose not to drive, for helping make this Holiday Season safer upon Southampton Town roadways," a release said.
