"America's Got Talent" aired the audition tape Tuesday of a young "singing doctor" who died tragically recently — and paid him a heartfelt tribute.

"On June 11 one of our contestants, Brandon Rogers, tragically passed away in a car accident. At the request of his family we would like to honor his memory by sharing his audition with you," the show wrote, along with a posted YouTube video of the audition episode.

During his audition, Rogers spoke about what motivated him to become a doctor and explained he'd found his mother gravely ill as a small child and credited the doctors with saving her life. He said the experience "made me want to be the doctor I am today."

He said his way of coping with stress has been to sing; he told the judges that he sometimes sang to his patients.

After his performance of Stevie Wonder's "Ribbon in the Sky," judge Simon Cowell said: "Your vocal is stunning. Stunning."

He garnered "yes" votes from all four judges, as well as a standing ovation.

He called his mother before and after his audition. "Mom, are you with Dad? I have some good news. I made it," he said.

The "singing doctor" who was killed in a car crash after wowing judges on "America's Got Talent" got his start at Southampton Hospital.

Rogers, 29, who was a resident in the family practice program at Riverside Brentwood Medical Center in Virginia, died after a car accident; he was a passenger in the car when the driver fell asleep at the wheel, police reports said in a post by the Daily Press in Newport News.

Rogers was said to have made a big impact on the "America's Got Talent" judges, but his episode was yet to air, the post said.

A GoFundMe created by Dr. Rajeev Santiago Fernando of Southampton Hospital, "Reminiscing An Exceptional Soul," seeks to raise funds to help Rogers' family; so far the page has raised $4,379 of its $10,000 goal.

"It's simply impossible to write this obituary without a river of tears running down my face for a colleague taken way too soon," Fernando wrote.

"We mourn the death of Brandon Rogers, an intern who worked with us in Southampton Hospital the last year. He was 29 and tragically killed in a car accident last weekend," he said.

Rogers was an intern in the social osteopathic medicine department, according to the Southampton Hospital website.

"Brandon was the kind of guy that made life just better for the people around him His exemplary patient care won him many compliments in our hospital," Fernando said.

"Apart from that he was a gifted rhythm and blues vocalist. He subsequently burst onto social media and was invited by Boyz II men to perform with them on three concerts and excelled," Fernando said. "Dubbed as 'The Singing Doctor', Brandon was supposed to appear on 'America's Got Talent' over the next few weeks."

Fernando said he spoke to Rogers' father and "respectfully asked if we can contribute to Brandon's funeral expenses and he appreciated our help."

He added, "As always when the chips are down, all of us at Southampton Hospital join hands and stay together strong together. Of course love and friendship does not end at death; it's forever."
