• New Southampton Public Safety Foundation Kicks Off First Community-Supported Initiatives (patch.com) — Southampton residents are being invited to support a new Public Safety Foundation that's funding security cameras at Lake Agawam and Agawam Park, along with equipment for the village police department's new K-9 vehicle. The nonprofit, now marking its first anniversary, is also expanding its advisory council with local resident Sean Smith to help grow community participation in Southampton-focused safety projects.
   

• Man Struggling In Water During Mighty Hamptons Triathlon Dies: Police (patch.com) — A 34-year-old triathlete died after being pulled unconscious from Noyack Bay during the swim portion of the Mighty Hamptons Triathlon in Southampton. Lifeguards and Southampton Town marine officers performed CPR and transported him to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, where he was pronounced dead as police continue investigating the cause.
   

• 47 Orthodox Christians to Become Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in October (thenationalherald.com) — Two local residents, physician Dimitri Nikitas Kessaris and David C. Wittig, both from Southampton, will be invested as Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate during a major ceremony in Manhattan on October 18. They join 45 other Orthodox Christians nationwide who are being honored for their service and commitment to defending the church's historic spiritual center.
