Boy, 3, Alone On Road, Struck By Vehicle In Riverside: Police
A good Samaritan found the child, who had wandered off and been struck by a car, walking along the road, police say.
RIVERSIDE, NY — A 3-year-old boy who wandered out of a home in Riverside was struck by a car Friday night, police said.
According to Southampton Town Police, the incident took place at 6:42 p.m. on Old Quogue Road when the child, who was being supervised by his grandmother in a residence on the road, wandered off.
A good Samaritan found the boy injured and walking along the roadway; his injuries were consistent with being struck by a vehicle, police said. A witness reported a black sedan leaving the area where the child was found; it was unclear if the driver knew they had struck the child, police said.

The child was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital via Suffolk County Aviation with minor, non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
