Claude Monet: Light, Perception, and the Birth of Impressionism

Claude Monet is known as being a key figure in the Impressionist movement and for his distinctive style of painting, particularly his focus on capturing the effects of light and color in nature.  From his painting Impressionism, Sunrise, which gave the movement Impressionism its name, to the famous and exquisite Waterlilies, Claude Monet is one of the greatest painters in the history of art and, with others, led the way to modernism in the twentieth century.
