Spend a summer night outdoors at the library for a screening of the nostalgic romantic comedy Father of the Bride. George and Nina Banks find their world turned upside down when their beloved only daughter returns home from studying abroad and announces that she’s getting married. George, unwilling to face the fact that his little girl has grown up, begins to unravel as the wedding plans spiral out of control. The film became a box-office hit thanks to its charming cast, including Steve Martin, Diane Keaton, Kimberly Williams-Paisley in her breakout role, and the hilarious Martin Short, along with its sentimental orchestral score and romantic classic pop standards. Bring your favorite outdoor chair and blanket. Hot buttered popcorn, movie theater candy, and “wedding cake” will be served.&nbsp; Registration required.

Southampton Playhouse

Isaac Ferry presents three of his father’s albums for a night of immersive audio at the Southampton Playhouse. Roxy Music’s Flesh + Blood (1980), Avalon (1982) and Bryan Ferry’s Boys &amp; Girls (1985) are three sonically unique records often cited for their lush production and textured soundscapes. All three were produced by Rhett Davies and Bryan Ferry, and mixed by the legendary Bob Clearmountain. These spectacular records have recently been remixed by the original production team in Dolby’s new immersive ATMOS format. These two final Roxy albums and the subsequent solo record define an era with the later featuring a host of guest musicians, including David Gilmour, Mark Knopfler, Nile Rodgers, Marcus Miller and Andy Newmark.
The evening will start at 8.30pm with an introduction from Isaac Ferry and there will be short breaks in-between each album, Q&amp;A to follow.

Join us for an engaging and entertaining look at the American Revolution through the sharp wit and biting satire of 18th century political cartoons. In celebration of the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, historian and photographer <a target="_blank" href="https://www.centralparknyc.org/articles/q-a-with-sara-cedar-miller" rel="nofollow noopener">Sara Cedar Miller</a>&nbsp;will present a lively program exploring newly researched British and American caricatures created before and during the Revolutionary War in New York.

Using humor, symbolism, and exaggerated imagery, political cartoons of the Revolutionary era offered commentary on the growing tensions between Britain and the colonies, shaping public opinion while capturing the anxieties, rivalries, and absurdities of the time. Sara Cedar Miller will guide audiences through a fascinating visual journey into these rarely discussed works, unpacking the hidden meanings and historical context behind each illustration.

Featuring acclaimed Spanish dancer/choreographer Paloma de Vega, international soprano Ashley Galvani Bell, and pianist Bobby Peterson, this concert showcases beloved dances and romanzas from Spain’s unique form of musical theatre known as zarzuela with its captivating fusion of operatic, dramatic and folkloric elements.&nbsp;&nbsp;Over ten thousand zarzuelas have been written in Spain, incorporating folk and urban dance rhythms, simple songs, operatic arias, passionate love duets and grand choruses, but this art form also expanded into Latin America, and many countries including Mexico and Cuba developed their own unique zarzuelas.
This program will teach you about zarzuela’s history and rhythm and feature unique dance &amp; vocal excerpts.This project is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by The Huntington Arts Council.

Paloma de Vega is an internationally recognized Spanish dancer and choreographer living in New York who specializes in danza española and flamenco. She has danced with the International American Ballet and has performed at Lincoln Center.&nbsp;
Ashley Galvani Bell grew up cantoring at Basilica of Sacred Hearts starting at age 9 and is currently an international opera singer who has performed as a soloist in the US, Italy, Spain, France, Denmark &amp; Russia in such venues as Carnegie Hall, New York City Opera, ABAO Bilbao and Teatro Maestranza (Sevilla).
Bobby Peterson&nbsp;is currently director of music at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Easthampton. In addition to being an excellent pianist, he has worked for many years in the world of musical theatre performing lead roles in productions such as West Side Story, Singin’ in the Rain, and Jekyll and Hyde.

The Soul of Marvin is a cinematic soul experience that brings Marvin Gaye's catalog roaring back to life through the voice and artistry of Brian Owens. On Saturday, September 5, Owens — whose voice critics have placed firmly in Marvin's lineage — returns to the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center with a full live band. The night travels from early Motown sweetness through the social conscience of "What's Going On," the Marvin &amp; Tammi duets with Emily Lucas of That Motown Band, the slow burn of "Let's Get It On," and the joyful release of "Got to Give It Up."

This performance is presented as part of a cultural partnership between WHBPAC and The Butterfly Effect Project, a nonprofit organization serving over 700 young people across the East End of Long Island. BEP empowers its particpants to be resilient, independent, and knowledgeable, providing opportunities that stretch their minds, spark curiosity, and foster academic growth, hard work, and self-confidence. Butterflies attend Arts Academy programs at WHBPAC free of charge, including afterschool theatre classes, summer camps, and our landmark Butterfly Monologue program.

The Jay Heritage Center in Rye, New York will celebrate America at 250 with a toast to Jay Medal honorees Pulitzer Prize-winning author Annette Gordon-Reed, the Carl M. Loeb University Professor at Harvard University and award-winning Lincoln historian Harold Holzer.
The Jay Medal for Service was created in 2012 to recognize individuals who demonstrate a selfless spirit of commitment to and engagement with their community mirroring the multifaceted contributions of John Jay and his descendants. These honorees have demonstrated through their life's work that our shared narratives as a country, complicated as they are, can be better illuminated through the highest caliber of ongoing scholarship and advocacy. Honorees are selected for their excellence in the fields of American history, environmental stewardship, social justice or civic engagement.
Joining the celebration will be Chief Judge of the State of New York and the New York Court of Appeals, Honorable Rowan D. Wilson and historian and philanthropist Elihu Rose who will present the awards at JHC's annual Soirée. Special guests will include David Blight, Frank Cogliano, Joanne Freeman, and Beverly Gage.

The Jay Medal Soirée will be held Saturday, September 19, 2026 at the Jay Estate from 5:30-9:30pm. Cocktails, dinner, award ceremony and dancing. Cocktail Attire.
