Douglas Elliman Gives Back with Dress For Success Clothing Drive

More than 100 items have been collected in Sag Harbor to empower women so far, with the clothing drive continuing through Dec. 23.

SAG HARBOR, NY — A caring Sag Harbor community is opening its hearts in a big way to help empower women who are taking steps toward self-sufficiency and success.

Douglas Elliman staffers are taking part in a Dress for Success clothing drive at the Sag Harbor location, and, under the leadership of agent Melissa Pintauro, as well as many employees and their families and friends, more than 100 items have been donated so far to the international not-for-profit organization.

On Friday, Pintauro hosted the Drive for Success clothing drive and gathering at the Sag Harbor office to bring attention to the organization, "which empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life," a release said.

Diana Weir, commissioner of housing and women's services for Brookhaven Town, was onhand and discussed the positive impacts of the Dress For Success program in for Nassau and Suffolk Counties, Locally, the organization just dressed their 5000th client, she said.

Since starting operations in 1997, Dress for Success has expanded to almost 145 cities in 21 countries and has helped more than 925,000 women work towards self-sufficiency.

Pintauro will be collecting Dress for Success clothing donations at the Sag Harbor Douglas Elliman office, located on 138 Main Street, through December 23, the release said.

Acceptable items for donation:

Suits, dresses, pants, blouses, sweaters, jackets, etc.

Shoes, pocketbooks and costume jewelry are also acceptable.

In the winter, coats, boots, scarfs and gloves are appreciated.

*Please, no jeans, capris, t-shirts, summer clothing at this time.
