Drunk Driver Caught Speeding 97 MPH: Police

A drunk driver speeding 97 MPH and four others were arrested during a DWI task force initiative in Southampton Saturday night, police said.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — Five individuals were arrested in Southampton Town during an East End DWI Task Force hosted by the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office Saturday night, police said.

The initiative took place between 8 p.m. Saturday until 4 a.m. Sunday; in all, 39 vehicles were stopped and drivers screened for impairment, police said.

Five were arrested and 29 summonses were issued, police said.

Those arrested, police said, include:

- Gregory Gauvin, 44, of Southampton, was arrested at 9:22 p.m. after he was observed failing to signal a turn on Country Club Drive in Southampton, police said. He was found to be intoxicated and in possession of concentrated cannibis, police said. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and failure to signal a turn, police said.

- Eric Boyd Davidson,43, of Hampton Bays was arrested at 10:10 pm after he was was observed driving in a reckless manner while heading south on Flanders Rd. near the rest area in Flanders by driving 97 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone, following
vehicles too closely, failing to signal lane changes and unsafe lane changes, police said. He was additionally found to be intoxicated, police said. He was arrested and charged with DWI, reckless driving, speeding 97 mph in a 55 mph zone and numerous other traffic
infractions, police said.

- Robert W. Disario, 33 of East Moriches was arrested at 11:44 pm Disario after he was seen speeding and failing to maintain his lane while heading west on Sunrise Hwy. near Exit 63 in Westhampton Beach and was found to be intoxicated, police said. He was charged with DWI, speeding, and failure to maintain lane, police said.

- Jonathan Velasquez-Cul, 31,of Riverhead was arrested at 12 a.m. after he was seen driving north on County Road 104 north of County Road 31 in Flanders and failing to keep his vehicle within the travel lane, police said. He was found to be intoxicated; he was also found to have previously have been convicted of DWI under another name, with his privilege to drive a motor vehicle in New York State revoked, police said. He was charged with felony, DWI, felony aggravated unlicensed operation, and numerous traffic infractions, police said.

- Cody Blazer Nolan, 22, of Hampton Bays was arrested at 3:27 a.m. after he was seen speeding and using an improper lane on Montauk Hwy. near Canoe Place Rd. in Hampton Bays, police said. He was found to be in an intoxicated condition with a BAC of .18% or more and was charged with aggravated DWI, DWI, speeding and improper lane, police said.

No crashes with injuries were reported during the DWI task force, police said.

"The Southampton Town Police would like to thank all of the designated drivers and those who did drink and chose not to drive, for helping make this holiday season safer upon Southampton Town roadways," police said.
