Fire Rips Through Hamptons Home, Leaving 1 Structure Gutted
One detached section of the house was fully engulfed and the flames spread to the main residence, which was saved, officials say.
SOUTHAMPTON, NY — Firefighters rushed to a fierce blaze that broke out in a Southampton home Saturday.
According to Chris Brenner, public information officer for the Southampton Fire Department, the fire broke out at a home on Little Neck Road.
Southampton Town Police said a call came in at 12:06 p.m. from an area resident who saw black smoke; police responded and found a "fully engulfed residence." No one was inside the home, police said.

A detached structure on the property was "fully engulfed and 100 percent destroyed," Brenner said. Flames did ignite the main structure but firefighters were able to extinguish those flames and save the main house, he said.
"Everyone did an amazing job," Brenner said.

No one was believed to be home and no injuries were immediately reported.
Along with the Southampton Fire Department, the North Sea, Hampton Bays, East Quogue, and Flanders Fire Departments responded to the scene, with the Bridgehampton Fire Department and Sag Harbor Fire Departments standing by. Southampton Village, Town and Hampton Bays ambulance corps were all at the scene, he said, as were Southampton Town Police and the town fire marshals.
