"Jeff is a paramedic who has selflessly served this community for decades." Here's how to help as he battles coronavirus.

FLANDERS, NY — The community is coming together to help a Flanders paramedic who was diagnosed with the new coronavirus.
Jeff Alt, a paramedic with the Flanders Northampton Volunteer Ambulance Corps, "has selflessly served this community for decades," a GoFundMe page, "Help for Jeff Alt," said.
The page, created by Tina Roberts, added: "He is the first person anyone can go to for help. He is a dedicated paramedic, friend, father and husband."

Currently, Alt is being treated at Stony Brook University Hospital, where he has responded to the CPAP and BiPAP machines, Roberts said. "He is doing much better," she said Thursday. "He is still in the ICU, but getting healthier every day."
Alt, Robert said, rides in Gordon Heights, Flanders and Westhampton.

"While we remain optimistic and hopeful for a full, speedy recovery, we have to be realistic that this is a long road ahead for him and his family," Roberts said. "My goal is to help ease the financial burden that is now placed on his wife. Let's give Jeff some peace in knowing that he can heal without the stress of bills piling up."
