Heavy Smoke Reported At Southampton House Fire: Officials
The fire, which started in a dryer, was quickly extinguished, said Chris Brenner, of the Southampton Fire Department.
SOUTHAMPTON, NY — Heavy smoke was reported after a fire broke out in a Southampton home Sunday night, officials said.
According to Chris Brenner, public information officer for the Southampton Fire Department, a call came in at 7:06 p.m. for a dryer fire at a home on St. Andrew's Circle in Shinnecock Hills. The first chief at the scene reported the heavy smoke in the residence, Brenner said.
Crews entered the building and were able to extinguish the fire within 20 minutes, Brenner said.

The Hampton Bays Fire Department was requested to the scene for rapid intervention and the North Sea Fire Department was asked to bring a truck to the scene, Brenner said. The Bridgehampton Fire Department was requested to stand by in Southampton and cover during the response to the fire, Brenner said. Southampton Volunteer Ambulance was also at the scene for firefighter assessment, he said. The Southampton Village Volunteer Ambulance was also onhand to help if necessary, he said.
A fire marshal was requested to the scene, Brenner said. Southampton Fire Department Assistant Chief Polis Walker was in charge at the scene.
