LI Man Charged With Rape, Endangering Welfare Of Child: Police

The man was arrested in Speonk Wednesday, police say.

SPEONK, NY — A Speonk man was charged with first-degree rape and endangering the welfare of a child Wednesday, police said.

According to Southampton Town Police, Gabriel Guat-Pirir, 44, was arrested Wednesday at 11:17 p.m. after the report of a sexual assault at a home in Speonk.

Southampton Town Police detectives arrested Guat-Pirir and charged him with one count of first-degree rape, a felony, and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, police said.

Guat-Pirir was held at Southampton Town Police headquarters for morning arraignment, police said.

Police did not immediately provide any additional information about the case.
