Little Boy Donates Allowance Money To Give Kids A Christmas
Southampton Town Police teamed up with Target again for the "Heroes and Helpers" shopping program, providing gifts for needy families.
SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A little Hampton Bays boy donated his allowance to help other children have toys under the tree this holiday season.
Jack Kiernan was one of many Santa's helpers who participated in the "Shop With A Cop" event, which brought together members of the Southampton Town Police Department to participate in Target's Heroes and Helpers program, police said.
This is the second year that Southampton Police have been involved with the program, aimed at spreading holiday cheer to families in need.

Altogether, 9 children, residents of Southampton Town, went shopping with Southampton Town Police, New York State Police, and Southampton Town Police Explorers at Target in Riverhead, police said.
The Southampton Town Policeman’s Benevolent Association and the Southampton Town Superior Officers Association made additional contributions to make the children’s holiday shopping spree even more bountiful.

And, after hearing about the program, Jack donated his allowance money, police said.
Southampton Town Police Department sent a shout out of thanks to Target in Riverhead and Chipotle in Riverhead for providing dinner for the participants, and HUGS in Westhampton for assisting with "this wonderful program," a release said.
