Local Cab Drivers Protest Uber in Front of Southampton Village Hall

Protesters were claiming that Uber drivers from NYC were spending the weekend in Southampton "staking out" clubs for customers.

Several local cab drivers protested in front of Southampton Village Hall to protest Uber, a mobile app that connects riders with a taxi, private car or rideshare from their mobile phone, on Thursday.

About 12 drivers were protesting, claiming that Uber drivers from Manhattan have been spening the weekends in Southampton Town, sleeping during the day and “staking out” popular clubs for customers at night, according to a report in 27east.

The protesters are claiming that Uber drivers are taking passengers coming straight out of the clubs rather than waiting to be called in with the app as they should be, according to the report.
