Man Charged With DWI After 3-Car Crash In Hamptons Leaves 2 Hurt: PD

The injuries were non-life threatening, officials say.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after a three-car crash that left two injured in Southampton Tuesday night, police said.

Gabriel Urbano, 47, of Southampton, was arrested Tuesday at about 9:20 p.m. after the crash at County Road 39 and Sandy Hollow Road, in Tuckahoe, and charged with aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor, as well as following too closely and unlicensed operation, both violations, Southampton Town police said.

He was arrested, taken to Southampton Town police headquarters for processing and held for morning arraignment, police said.

According to Chris Brenner, public information officer for the Southampton Fire Department, the crash took place in the westbound lane of County Road 39 near Sandy Hollow Road.

The injuries were non-life threatening, Brenner said.

One vehicle had a fuel leak; traffic was diverted around the scene and was moving slowly westbound for about an hour until the road reopened, Brenner said.
