Man Committed Lewd Act Outside Local Business: Police

The incident took place in Riverside Thursday night, police say.

RIVERSIDE, NY — A man was arrested after engaging in a lewd act outside a Riverside business Thursday, police said.

According to Southampton Town Police, at 8 p.m. authorities received a report of a suspicious person at the commercial business; a witness said that a man exposed himself and engaged in the lewd act in public view of the customers, police said.

The man left the business and was located nearby, police said. Nelson L. Priester, 35, who is homeless, was arrested and charged with public lewdness, a misdemeanor, police said.

He was taken into custody without incident, processed at Southampton Town Police headquarters and held for arraignment, then remanded to the Suffolk County Correctional Facility, police said.
