Man Threatened With Knife, Attacked With Stick: Cops

A Flanders man has been charged in the incident, police say.

FLANDERS, NY—A Flanders man was arrested and charged after he threatened someone with a gun and assaulted him with a stick, police said.

According to Southampton Town Police, Demoy Ashwood, 28, of Flanders was arrested on Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. at a location in Flanders after the incident.

Patrol officers responded — along with the Southampton Town Police Department's detective division and a Southampton Village K9 unit — to investigate and try to locate Ashwood, who fled the scene, police said.

Ashwood was located nearby, placed under arrest, and taken to police headquarters; he was charged with second degree assault, second degree menacing, and two counts of fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

He was held overnight at Southampton Town Police headquarters for arraignment, police said.
