Montauk Highway Reopened After Driver Crashes Into Utility Pole: Police

The driver suffered non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Montauk Highway reopened Friday afternoon after an accident involving a driver who was hospitalized after crashing into a utility pole in Hampton Bays, police said.

According to Southampton Town Police Sgt. Michael Joyce, the single-car accident happened at 12:39 p.m. at Allomara Road and Montauk Highway, when the driver crashed into the pole. Hampton Bays and East Quogue Fire Departments were on the scene; PSEG was notified, he said.

The driver was taken to Southampton Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Joyce said.

Montauk Highway was closed in both directions for approximately an hour and a half but was reopened Friday afternoon, he said.
