One Hospitalized After Shooting at Shinnecock Indian Reservation

A person was hospitalized after a shooting at the Shinnecock Indian Reservation on Saturday morning, according to State Police.
Troopers were notified of a gunshot wound victim being treated at Southampton Hospital.
The victim, whose name is currently being withheld pending investigation, was stabilized and airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital for further treatment, police said.

The incident occurred on the reservation near Little Beach Road at 12:40 a.m., police said.
During a search of the area, police found potentially significant evidence including a loaded handgun, according to police.

During the course of the investigation, Mark M. Williams, 33, of the reservation was arrested when he impeded the crime scene investigation, according to police.
This is the second shooting to occur at the reservation in the past month.
On June 15, two local residents were hospitalized with non-life threatening gunshot wounds after a shooting by an unknown person.
