Person Hit By Long Island Rail Road Train In Southampton: MTA
BREAKING: The LIRR train was headed west when someone was hit; an investigation is ongoing, an MTA spokesperson said.
SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A person was hit by a Long Island Rail Road train in Southampton Wednesday afternoon, officials said.
According to an MTA spokesperson, the incident took place at 3:44 p.m. when a westbound train headed to New York City struck the individual near the Southampton LIRR station on North Main Street. The investigation is ongoing, the MTA spokesperson said.
Passengers who were on the train are being bused to Speonk, the MTA spokesperson said.

This is the second time in recent weeks that an individual was struck by an LIRR train in Southampton; a Southampton man died after being struck on August 1.
