Photos: South Fork Natural History Museum Hosts Salamander Seining

The South Fork Natural History Museum and Nature Center (SoFo) hosted a Salamander Seining this past Saturday.
The event began at 10 a.m. at the museum located at 377 Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike in Bridgehampton.

During the event, Andy Sabin, the “Salamander Commander” and President of the Board of SoFo, led the large group to wade into a freshwater pond and using a seining net (a large two-person fishing net with weights at the lower edge and floats at the top), brought the salamaders, snakes, frogs and tadpoles to the surface.
The crowd included guests such as: Xylia Serafy, The Marshall’s: Maggie, Sarah, Graham, Randye Feltman, Isabelle Emanuele, Maggie Beck, and Kathy Qian and her family.
