Sag Harbor Artist Creates Art Installation For The Retreat

The local artist recently created the piece for the local organization's East Hampton office.

Sag Harbor artist Barbara Maslen recently created and painted an art installation to be placed in The Retreat’s office in East Hampton.

“We are so grateful to Barbara for approaching us with this idea a few months ago,” Loretta K. Davis, Executive Director at The Retreat said. “The work is incredible and it provides such a positive and uplifting feeling when you walk in our door.”

The piece is constructed of hand painted wooden squares that include imagery painted with bright, colorful, lively images.

Maslen says she was inspired to create the installation by her participation in East End Arts JumpstART program.

“Through my Project: ART4ALL2C, my mission is to bring big, bright, original art to otherwise neglected spaces to energize the space, engage the viewer and bring beauty and joy to people going about their everyday lives,” Maslen said.
