Search On For Woman Who Assaulted Female With Hammer, Pushed Child: PD

RIVERSIDE, NY — The search is on for a woman who assaulted a female by hitting her in the head with a hammer in October, police said.
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Southampton Town Police Department detectives are asking for the public’s help to locate the woman, who also pushed her child, authorities said.
Ligia Lopez Menendez, 37, went to the Riverside residence of a known female, pushed the woman’s child and struck the woman in the head with the hammer on October 30, police said.

The woman who was hit had an order of protection against Lopez Menendez, police said. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and her child was not injured, police said.
Lopez Menendez is Hispanic, about 5-feet, 4 inches tall and 160 lbs., with long brown hair, police said. She has ties to Flanders, Riverside and Hampton Bays, police said.
